Covet Lab began long before it had a name or a permanent home. Fifteen years ago, our founder and lead chandler, Catherine Gagnon, began making candles as a hobby, fueled by a lifelong love of fragrance and the way scent can transform a space, a mood, or a memory. What followed was a journey of endless testing, failed formulas, continued learning, and, eventually, some beautiful creations. As Catherine says, “Creating the perfect candle is almost impossible. Creating an incredibly well-made candle is an accomplishment.” What started at home gradually grew into candle lines, trade shows, and wholesale partnerships with local businesses.

In 2023, Catherine opened Covet Lifestyle in Sandyport, bringing her candle creations together with a curated collection of apparel, accessories, and gifts. Within that space, Covet Lab began to take shape. Candle-making workshops gave guests the opportunity to experience the process for themselves — to learn, create, connect, and leave with something made entirely their own. As the workshops grew, so did the vision for the Lab: not simply a place to make candles, but a creative space where fragrance, self-expression, and connection could come together.

Now, Covet is entering its next chapter. With Covet Lifestyle relocating to its new home at Venetian Village, the original Sandyport location is becoming the permanent home of Covet Lab. It’s a full-circle moment — transforming the space where the Lab began into a place dedicated entirely to creating, experimenting, learning, and sharing. Catherine’s hope is for the Lab to feel “cozy, warm and inviting,” and to be somewhere you want to return to again and again. From our signature candle-making experience to new workshops and creative concepts still to come, Covet Lab is continuing to grow — and this is only the beginning.
